Examples of projects carried out for our clients in technology
Development of a “customer-centric” digital strategy for an industrial player
Our client, a major industrial player, had the ambition to become “fully customer-centric”, placing the customer at the center of its concerns at all levels of the company.
To feed this reflection and contribute to the company’s roadmap, we carried out an investigation project based on benchmarks of the digitalization of customer relationships (in its sector and outside of its sector) and interactions with its customers in Europe and in the United States.
Our project made it possible to question our client’s initial ideas by integrating a more concrete dimension, and to transform a reflection into an operational action plan.
Technology scouting for a medical device player
We worked with the R&D team of a leading medical device manufacturer who wanted to identify and evaluate smart sensors to develop a new connected object.
After having discussed with our client’s team to identify the state of internal knowledge and to frame our scope of investigation, we first predefined the evaluation criteria (level of maturity of the technology, technical performance, partners involved, scope of development capacities, etc.) for our investigation. Once this first step was completed, we identified and analyzed potential technologies and associated players on the market in a broad way, and then characterized a final selection of the most relevant players and technologies.
In the end, we were able to recommend 3 possible solutions to our client through this technology scouting, according to the criteria we defined together.
Launch of a cybersecurity offering for industrial equipment connected to factories 4.0 for an energy services company
A digital services player in the energy sector wanted to refine its new cyber security offering for industrial equipment.
To do this, we identified the most mature targets, analysed their needs and current practices, and also tested their interest in the services offered by our client, as well as its legitimacy.
By combining a quantitative survey of around a hundred participants with a qualitative analysis based on in-depth one-to-one interviews with key customers, we were able to refine the targeting, draw up a new segmentation of the offering, identify the main strengths to be highlighted and finally adapt the value proposition of this new offering.
Evaluation of digital solutions for real-life data collection for the creation of a new offer
We supported one of our clients, a leader in the healthcare sector, who wanted to explore the opportunity to diversify its activities through the integration and use of digital solutions for the generation and collection of real-life data (Real-World Evidence, RWE). For this project, our teams evaluated the different data capture technologies available on the market, their characteristics, their advantages and their limits, as well as the existing approaches for their use in France in RWE.
Following our analysis, we defined 4 approaches enabling our client to integrate and to set up these new selected digital data services and established an operational action plan to carry out pilot projects. In the end, a pilot was successful and our client was able to launch a new differentiating offer.
Identification of encapsulation and delivery technologies for a chemical manufacturer
Our client, a leader in the chemical manufacture industry, wanted to identify emerging encapsulation and delivery technologies as well as associated opportunities for them.
We helped them answer three key questions: What are the main and becoming technologies meeting the market trends for fragrance microencapsulation? Was there an opportunity for them to get positioned and play in this landscape? And if so, how to get positioned and where in the value chain?
With these insights, our client identified not only promising technologies and strategic partnerships to establish, but also how to best incorporate these new technologies into the development of their product portfolio.
Benchmark of digital solutions used in the agricultural sector for field cultivation
We worked with a digital player to draw up a snapshot of the current landscape of digital solutions used in the agricultural sector, in particular for field cultivation and viticulture.
We were able to provide an exhaustive overview of existing solutions and to select several players of interest for a more in-depth characterisation of their digital solutions and strategies.
This information enabled our client to adapt and expand its offering over the medium term.
Definition of the future smart factory of an aeronautical manufacturer
Alcimed supported one of its leading clients in aircraft production on the design of its future factory 4.0. The objective of our client was to gain competitiveness and to be one step ahead of its competitors in terms of expertise in assembly and testing.
To do this, Alcimed began by making an inventory of the client’s expertise. Then, our teams carried out a benchmark of the existing best practices in the assembly industry, analyzed their impact on our client’s KPIs, and analyzed their transferability for our client’s activities.
Finally, using all this information, our team held several workshops with our client to define their ideal smart factory and be able to challenge its solution providers.
Creation of a dashboard converting natural language prompts into insightful graphs
A biotechnology stakeholder developed a new solution for diagnostics in oncology. They identified the analysis of the results as a remaining bottleneck in the diagnostic process, and wanted to offer a solution at this step of the value chain.
To help our clients, we developed a dashboard, that would convert simple questions into actionable insights. With our client’s input, as well as the insights of potential future users, we developed a dashboard that used state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP), to create meaningful graphs and extracted statistical parameters from the complicated underlying data.
Our project enabled our client to get an insightful dashboard while guaranteeing data protection and avoiding hallucination from the generative AI model.

Founded in 1993, Alcimed is an innovation and new business consulting firm, specializing in innovation driven sectors: life sciences (healthcare, biotech, agrifood), energy, environment, mobility, chemicals, materials, cosmetics, aeronautics, space and defence.
Our purpose? Helping both private and public decision-makers explore and develop their uncharted territories: new technologies, new offers, new geographies, possible futures, and new ways to innovate.
Located across eight offices around the world (France, Europe, Singapore and the United States), our team is made up of 220 highly-qualified, multicultural and passionate explorers, with a blended science/technology and business culture.
Our dream? To build a team of 1,000 explorers, to design tomorrow’s world hand in hand with our clients.
We’re not consultants, we’re explorers! Working with a consulting firm like Alcimed means living a different experience, with a team that always favors face-to-face meetings, goes beyond classic deliverables in favor of innovative ones (videos, data visualization tools, websites, collaborative platforms, …), that favors interactive animations in projects (escape games, quizzes, board games, role-playing games, video games, …), and that loves to make clients discover unusual places!
Alcimed carries out consulting missions in a variety of fields and on topics as diverse as the uncharted territories of our clients! Our projects and the methodological approaches we develop are based on the specific needs and contexts of our clients. We for example support our clients in defining their R&D or innovation strategy, in studying their target markets, in identifying and exploring new opportunities, in investigating innovative technologies, in defining their sales and marketing strategies, in integrating CSR or data science into their practices, or in imagining the future of their activities.
We have chosen to operate without using pre-established methodologies. Our consultants always start from the context and from the specific questions of our clients and think about the best way to provide clear answers. Let’s forget methodological approaches of copy-pasting.
Beyond analyzing the web and literature, and large internal or external data lakes using data science, our consultants target and interact with key stakeholders: these can be clients, suppliers, partners, experts, opinion leaders, end-customers or patients, … and we challenge their viewpoints. This investigative work enables us to build our clear opinion at the crossroads between the viewpoints of the different stakeholders, and leads us to build recommendations to allow our clients to make decisions.
Our team consists of 220 passionate individuals, with degrees from the best international schools and universities , most possessing a dual education in science/technology and business or data science. More than a third of our consultants have an international and multicultural background, and we master more than 20 languages and cultures, including the world’s most widely spoken ones: English, Chinese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Japanese.
