Examples of renewable energy projects carried out for our clients
Study of the carbon impact of floating offshore wind turbines and definition of a roadmap to achieve net zero
Against a backdrop of ecological transition, we supported a company in the energy sector wishing to reduce the CO2 emissions of its future floating offshore wind farms.
We carried out a comprehensive analysis of the various CO2 emissions generated by its floating offshore wind farms, from the extraction of materials to the management of the facilities’ end-of-life. We then assessed the various levers that could be used in the short, medium and long term to decarbonize these floating farms.
Our work enabled our client to determine the roadmap to follow to reduce CO2 emissions from its future floating offshore wind farms and move towards net zero.
Market study of offshore asset management, and in particular maintenance of floating wind farms
We supported an energy company in the management of its new offshore assets and its equipment maintenance strategy.
To do this, we first carried out a market study of the most common maintenance practices for this type of asset. We then identified and analyzed the various maintenance market prospects for the coming years, from both a qualitative and quantitative point of view.
Thanks to our work, our client was able to develop a strategic roadmap for the maintenance of its equipment.
Identification of ways of recycling wind turbine magnets
We supported an industrial player in the identification and selection of technological paths for current and developing industrial channels for recycling permanent magnets.
To do this, we began by identifying the technologies available on the market. We then analyzed and ranked them from a technical, environmental and economic point of view, in order to propose the most promising approaches to our client.
Thanks to our work, our client was able to identify ways of recovering the magnets from its wind turbines and implement the associated roadmap.
Evaluation of the opportunities for positioning hydrogen as a fuel in the industry to prepare for the launch of a new offer
The objective of this project for our client was to assess and prioritize the receptivity of several industries to the use of hydrogen as an energy source in their industrial processes.
In order to do so, our team first analyzed existing patents, market trends, existing technologies, and the practices of key players in the target sectors in terms of hydrogen use. Our team then assessed the interest of target manufacturers for the use of hydrogen as a replacement for natural gas, and the levers for implementing such a change.
Our study thus provided our client with a global vision of the industries to be targeted as a priority for their hydrogen supply offer, as well as an understanding of the key success factors for the implementation of this offer.
Supporting a player in the defense sector in its strategic reflections on decarbonization
Our client wanted an overview of future low-carbon and decarbonized renewable energies that would meet military operational requirements, in order to better orient its future studies.
To do this, we conducted a 3-step investigation: first, we defined the army’s playgrounds and segmented the related uses, then our team identified and segmented the relevant low-carbon and decarbonized energy types, before characterizing and selecting the most relevant technologies for our client.
Finally, 40 energy bricks were analyzed to create an overview report of the army’s future renewable energies, thanks to which our client was able to build its strategy.
Development of a Hydrogen Propulsion System for Aircraft for an aerospace company
A player in the aeronautical industry wanted to position itself in the hydrogen propulsion market for regional aircraft (20 – 100 seats). In order to define the right development strategy, and acquire the necessary skills and partners, this player called on our team to study the market up to 2040, as well as the competitive landscape.
To do this, we drew up an overview of the players positioned in the market, and conducted a competitive analysis of the most threatening competitors, in order to identify the key success factors and the right targets to aim for. To complete our vision of the market, we also carried out a survey of potential users projecting trends to 2040.
Our work enabled our client to refine its roadmap, review and set the right objectives, and focus on the most important aspects to consider in its development.
Creation of a decarbonisation roadmap for the French space industry
Alcimed worked with a public player to converge on a common roadmap for the decarbonisation of the entire French space industry.
As part of this mission, we defined a clear vision of the French space industry, as well as identifying and prioritising the levers for achieving realistic scenarios for decarbonising the space sector by 2050. To do this, our team implemented a 3-stage methodology:
- Analyse the French space industry and identify its issues and challenges in a future low-carbon world;
- Define a clear vision of decarbonised space by 2050 and identify the main levers for decarbonisation;
- Articulate the decarbonisation levers in scenarios and draw up a roadmap.
Thanks to our study, our client was able to define and share a clear and concrete roadmap, including the key levers and stages that will enable the space industry to decarbonise by 2050.

Founded in 1993, Alcimed is an innovation and new business consulting firm, specializing in innovation driven sectors: life sciences (healthcare, biotech, agrifood), energy, environment, mobility, chemicals, materials, cosmetics, aeronautics, space and defence.
Our purpose? Helping both private and public decision-makers explore and develop their uncharted territories: new technologies, new offers, new geographies, possible futures, and new ways to innovate.
Located across eight offices around the world (France, Europe, Singapore and the United States), our team is made up of 220 highly-qualified, multicultural and passionate explorers, with a blended science/technology and business culture.
Our dream? To build a team of 1,000 explorers, to design tomorrow’s world hand in hand with our clients.
We’re not consultants, we’re explorers! Working with a consulting firm like Alcimed means living a different experience, with a team that always favors face-to-face meetings, goes beyond classic deliverables in favor of innovative ones (videos, data visualization tools, websites, collaborative platforms, …), that favors interactive animations in projects (escape games, quizzes, board games, role-playing games, video games, …), and that loves to make clients discover unusual places!
Alcimed carries out consulting missions in a variety of fields and on topics as diverse as the uncharted territories of our clients! Our projects and the methodological approaches we develop are based on the specific needs and contexts of our clients. We for example support our clients in defining their R&D or innovation strategy, in studying their target markets, in identifying and exploring new opportunities, in investigating innovative technologies, in defining their sales and marketing strategies, in integrating CSR or data science into their practices, or in imagining the future of their activities.
We have chosen to operate without using pre-established methodologies. Our consultants always start from the context and from the specific questions of our clients and think about the best way to provide clear answers. Let’s forget methodological approaches of copy-pasting.
Beyond analyzing the web and literature, and large internal or external data lakes using data science, our consultants target and interact with key stakeholders: these can be clients, suppliers, partners, experts, opinion leaders, end-customers or patients, … and we challenge their viewpoints. This investigative work enables us to build our clear opinion at the crossroads between the viewpoints of the different stakeholders, and leads us to build recommendations to allow our clients to make decisions.
Our team consists of 220 passionate individuals, with degrees from the best international schools and universities , most possessing a dual education in science/technology and business or data science. More than a third of our consultants have an international and multicultural background, and we master more than 20 languages and cultures, including the world’s most widely spoken ones: English, Chinese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Japanese.
